Bug is the heart behind the scenes at Black Dagger, bringing a strong background in leadership, business, and creative problem-solving into the space. With over a decade of experience in the pastry world and a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, his path into the beauty industry was unconventional but aligned. His passion has always been guiding teams, building culture, and creating spaces where people can thrive.

After years of sharing stories with Sarah from the other side of the chair, stepping into the role at Black Dagger felt like a natural next move. It became an opportunity to pour that same energy into a small business rooted in community, creativity, and queer expression.

Bug helps shape the day-to-day experience of the salon, making sure both clients and staff feel supported, seen, and taken care of. His presence brings a bright, welcoming energy into the space, equal parts organized, expressive, and a little rebellious.

Black Dagger reflects everything he values: individuality, self-expression, and a community that shows up loudly and unapologetically. The vibe is bold, creative, a little chaotic, and fully alive, the kind of place you walk into and immediately feel something.

Outside of the salon, Bug leans into his love of food, travel, and culture. Whether he’s cooking and baking from scratch, hosting dinner parties, exploring San Diego like a tourist in his own city, or diving into new cuisines and traditions, creativity is always part of the process. You can also find him gaming, currently deep into Pokopia.

Bug is here to help create a space where you can exist exactly as you are, welcomed, supported, and maybe handed a cold fizzy water while you’re at it.
